Home is where the heart is?
As much as I like going home, I find that I can only handle being here in small doses. My heart belongs to the east coast. When my New York friends came home with me over spring break, they instantly exclaimed that I didn't fit in with the mold here. They loved that people are much nicer, but everything is just too "chill" for them. I don't know how to explain it -- it's almost as if we can only live under pressure & stress.
On another note, it's been extremely frustrating looking for an internship that pertains to my academic interests. Marketing is hard enough, but I would've at least had a chance back east. There just aren't enough opportunities available for students -- the ones that are out there lean towards fluent Japanese speakers. It's a shame that I've been relearning basic Japanese for pretty much half my life, yet I haven't gotten very far...
